IN-CELLS
STATEMENT

In-Cells, features a series of color Polaroid emulsion lifts. Filled with rips, wrinkles, and bubbles of the gelatinous emulsion, the Polaroids are scanned, enlarged, and printed digitally.

The Polaroid company ceased production of its instant film at the end of 2008. As the Polaroid era ends, I combine digital imaging, one of the newest photographic inventions, with its direct precursor: instant film.

The combination of techniques highlights the simultaneous evolution and discarding of photographic processes, while showing corresponding imagery that illustrates human memory of individually experienced communal evolutionary cycles.

In-Cells uses the photographic medium to reflect upon technology, recent memory, and contemporary human evolution.
