CAROLINA LEAGUE
STATEMENT
Carolina League, features a series of color Polaroid manipulation. Filled with rips, wrinkles, and bubbles of the gelatinous emulsion, the Polaroids are scanned, enlarged, and printed digitally.
The Polaroid company ceased production of its instant film at the end of 2008, then reissued Polaroid film with a new formulation in 2017. As the Polaroid era transforms, I combine digital imaging, one of the newest photographic inventions, with its direct precursor: instant film.
The combination of techniques highlights the simultaneous evolution and discarding of photographic processes, while showing corresponding imagery of minor league baseball that illustrates nostalgia and the strive for physical greatness.
Carolina League uses the photographic medium to reflect upon technology, recent memory, and contemporary human evolution.
