CYCLE OF CITIES II: AFTERLIFE
STATEMENT

Cycle of Cities is a nine part series chronicling the rise and fall of cities through a universal myth cycle.

The second part in the series, Cycle of Cities II: Afterlife depicts dead stars, at once womblike and celestial, in cliché-verre. French for glass negative, cliché-verre is a photo-painting hybrid process. The work in this series begins as hand painted images on glass in negative using smoke and natural dyes made from beets, turmeric, and spinach. The glass negative is then scanned, enlarged, and printed digitally.
